Watch List Face Surveillance Using Transductive Inference

چکیده
The open set recognition task, most challenging among the biometric tasks, operates under the assumption that not all the probes have mates in the gallery. It requires the availability of a reject option. For face recognition open set corresponds to the watch list face surveillance task, where the face recognition engine must detect or reject the probe. The above challenges are addressed successfully in this paper using transduction, which is a novel form of inductive learning. Towards that end, we introduce the Open Set TCM-kNN algorithm, which is based upon algorithmic randomness and transductive inference. It is successfully validated on the (small) watch list task (80% or more of the probes lack mates) using FERET datasets. In particular, Open Set TCM-kNN provides on the average 96% correct detection / rejection and identification using the PCA and/or Fisherfaces components for face representation.

Set Face Recognition Using Transduction
This paper motivates and describes a novel realization of transductive inference that can address the Open Set face recognition task. Open Set operates under the assumption that not all the test probes have mates in the gallery. It either detects the presence of some biometric signature within the gallery and finds its identity or rejects it, i.e., it provides for the " none of the above " answ...
متن کاملDynamic Selection of Exemplar-SVMs for Watch-list Screening through Domain Adaptation
Still-to-video face recognition (FR) plays an important role in video surveillance, allowing to recognize individuals of interest over a network of video cameras. Watch-list screening is a challenging video surveillance application, because faces captured during enrollment (with still camera) may differ significantly from those captured during operations (with surveillance cameras) under uncont...
متن کاملA Review of Scholastic Examination and Models for Face Recognition and Retrieval in Video
This survey report overviews recent frameworks on face recognition and retrieval solutions for videos search and surveillance applications. We introduce an engineering of a bland framework for facial detection, retrieval and recognition in video and audit scholarly frameworks reported in the scholastic writing suitable for videos search and surveillance applications. Suggestions on the choice o...
متن کاملTransductive Learning from Relational Data
Transduction is an inference mechanism “from particular to particular”. Its application to classification tasks implies the use of both labeled (training) data and unlabeled (working) data to build a classifier whose main goal is that of classifying (only) unlabeled data as accurately as possible. Unlike the classical inductive setting, no general rule valid for all possible instances is genera...
متن کاملOntology-Based Annotation of Paintings Using Transductive Inference Framework
Domain-specific knowledge of paintings defines a wide range of concepts for annotation and flexible retrieval of paintings. In this work, we employ the ontology of artistic concepts that includes visual (or atomic) concepts at the intermediate level and high-level concepts at the application level. Visual-level concepts include artistic color and brushwork concepts that serve as cues for annota...
